I bought a used car seat and didn't realize that there wasn't a tether belt that came with it. I REALLY need to buy a belt but have no idea where to buy one at. Can you get them at Babies R Us or Toys R Us?

First of all, I realize that car seats can be expensive but it's not a good idea to buy a used one. You have no way of knowing for sure if it's ever been in a crash, if all the parts are there or if there is a recall on it.

As for the tether strap, if you are talking about the one near the bottom that attaches the seat to the car's LATCH system, call the manufacturer of the seat to see if you can order one through them. But if you are talking about the one that fit's at the top of the seat, rear facing seats should never have one. You only use the top tether strap in front facing seats and if it didn't come with one, I'm not sure there is a way to attach it safely to the seat.

If you have questions about the seat, call your local police department. They should have someone on staff who is a certified car seat tech and if they don't, they can direct you to someone who is.

You can buy a tether at BRU or KRU. You can also try searching online.
