rub each side in oil and salt and pepper and then sear it in hot frying pan untill pink in middle as this will keep it tender!

Depends on the cut. Fillet steak has no fat and less taste so would need something to make it juicier.
Get a grill/griddle/frying pan up to maximum heat - no oil needed.
Add meat, press down and hold for about 30 seconds.
Turn over and do the same thing. You are looking for almost burnt crusty outside. This is what seals the meat juices inside.
Good steak does not need any other flavours - but the most crucial bit of cooking is that first searing heat.
Depending on how well done you want it, turn down heat and allow to continue cooking or remove after a minute or two for a perfect rare middle,
Yum - this is what Im having tonight!

This depends on your cut of steak.
Always fry a good quality steak... never grill it! Seal the goodness of the meat properly over high heat ;)
Again, if it's a high quality steak, from a good butchers, it's best to have it as natural as possible. I only put herbs and sauces over cheap cuts of rump.
Take you steak out of the fridge at least 15 mins before you are going to cook it. Rub oil over the steak and season simply with salt and pepper. Get your frying pan hot and add a drop of oil. When oil is ready, add the steaks. Test the meat for springiness.. touch test to see how cooked they are - rare, medium, well done.
Rare meat will be very soft.
Medium cooked will be springy
Well done will be firm.
Remember, your steak will continue cooking a little even after you take it off the heat ;)
Steaks are at the prime taste and texture only cooked up to medium. But each to their own :)

Hopefully they're not too fresh. There's nothing worse than a fresh beef steak. Doesn't matter what you do with, it's going to be tough. Happened to me a couple of times in Australia, til I got wise. Assuming your steak is from a good butcher, season with pepper and grill quickly in a griddle pan or dry frying pan on a fairly high heat until you see from the outside of the steak that the colour is changing from red to light brown, turn over and continue to cook. If you press the steak with your finger it should still be pliable. Remove from the heat and let it 'rest' for at least 5 minutes. Pairfek as they say in Liddypool.

Ok, you have a nice steak there. I love mock tenders. Stretch it out by making a nice pepper steak with onions. Make some rice on the side and you'll have a nice meal. Easy and delicious. Thats ok, Chuck is a little different. It's a tougher piece of meat. Chuck is good for stew, ground beef, or pizziola style( with tomato sauce cooked in the oven) linquine or spaghetti on the side. Which do you prefer?

I use an all seasoning rubbed on both sides.
Slap 'em on the grill medium high heat.
Cook to desired doneness...rare, med rare, well
The steak itself should provide most of the flavor.
For a sauce, try the bernaise. You can get a package at the grocery.
