There is no way that your going not to hurt him or make him feel bad. The only thing you can tell him is that your sorry that you don't feel love as he thinks love is, but only a Friendly affection for him. Tell him you don't want to hurt him, so it is best that you let him know how you feel and that you hope that they can see be friends. You can "love" a friend like you "love" you parents, brothers/sisters etc. Love take many forms, not just sexual or romantic. You can love him as a friend but not as a lover. Often friends are closer than lovers because they are more open to each other and share more together.

It isn't really possible for him not to be hurt. Just gently tell him that his friendship means a lot to you, but that your feelings for him aren't romantic. Tell him openly, I am sorry if this hurts you, but I respect you enough to tell you the truth. I wouldn't want to hurt you by pretending to have feelings that I don't. Be prepared for some emotion, and your friendship may not survive. There is no other way of saying it except just to say it. Good luck.

Just tell him that you love him but only as a friend.
Tell him that your feelings do not go beyond friendship but
you appreciate him telling you the truth. No matter how you put it being let down hurts but if he wants to stay friends he will get over it so don't worry!

It depends on how he takes whatever you say, but it will be very hard to not make him feel bad, at least for a little bit.
Just tell him that hes a good friend and you couldn't ever be more than that. Make sure you tell him that you want to be his friend still and that nothing has changed.

Don't worry too much about it. You don't have to return someone's love just because they love or are "in love" with you. I happen to really like a co-worker of mine and am about to tell her. I am probably not her type at all, I just want her to know that I completely and totally admire almost everything about her, that's all. I don't expect anything in return. I do hope that she will be flattered and not feel awkward because of my true infatuation for her. I do not plan to act on it.

Well first of all you can't really love someone that you haven't had a relationship with...he is infatuated with you. I would just tell him that you value your friendship and admire him so ..but would never want to ruin what you have

tell him that you love him dearly as a friend but not as anything else. Also tell him that you hope this doesnt hurt him in anyway, or your friendship.

you just give him a hint. For example, just tell him he is a great friend that you ever had, and you really want him to be your best friend forever.
