Usually to get your private pilots license in the US it averages between $5800. - $7000. It really depends upon how much time it takes you to get your rating, the FAA requires 40 hours of flight time, but almost everyone needs a little more to be ready for their flight test. If you are looking for a flight school I suggest that you visit http://www.beapilot.com/ they have a database that you can research for flight schools.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Not quite sure about Las Vegas. I got my license in Michigan. The MIMINUM amount of flight-time required to go for your check-ride, however, is 40 hours. (20 hours of dual instruction/20 hours solo). Therefore, calculate the cost of your respective aircraft's hourly wet-rate, then add at least 20-hours-worth of your instructor's hourly fees, and that will give you your minimum expediture. Be mindful, however, that you will want to attend a ground school, so that you're not trying to learn the basics WHILE you're attempting to fly the airplane. Also, you'll have various publications and equipment to purchase as well.

Lastly, be mindful of the fact that the 40 hours total-time/20 hours dual instruction is a MINIMUM! Most people require more time to become a safe, competent pilot. (I had logged 22 hours dual/78 hours total-time to check-ride). Try to fly at least twice a week, if possible, to retain your level of competence/confidence.

Have fun, and good luck!
