I want to ask you people why you think it's ok for your cats to pee and poop in my garden? There's nothing better than digging through the garden and finding the treasures your little darlings are leaving for me.

FYI: No I don't think it's a crisis CF, I just wonder how inconsiderate people can be. Yes, I have dogs, what does that have to do with anything? And how am I supposed to stop them from going in the front yard? Erect a fence there?

Many people who have cats think that it's important to let their cats run free outside. They think it's natural to let cats explore, chase and get their exercise in this way. They conveniently FORGET, though, that our cities and suburbs are not natural environments for animals to roam around in. There are cars, wildlife, mean people and kids, dogs, toxins, and lots of places to get stuck and trapped. Cats are easily lost and hurt and, as you can attest to, are able to create a lot of damage to other people's property.
Don't get me wrong, I really do love cats. I even own one! But she doesn't go outside. We exercise her inside and meet her needs so she lives to a ripe old age and has a fun life (she's 16 this year). She doesn't get fleas or communicable diseases. She doesn't get into horrible cat fights. She's never been lost. She's has no chance of being stolen or abused by a stranger. Cars, dogs, etc. cannot get her in here. And never - not once - has she inconvenienced a neighbour in any way.
If I can do it why can't others? Are people so lazy that you cannot entertain and care for a cat? The shelters kill millions of pets every day because of pet overpopulation. And guess whose fault it is?

ok.. firstly cats should be kept indoors or confined in their own yards.. in most cities there are by-laws protecting such issues - meaning if you find a cat in your yard that isnt your cat you can take it to the local SPCA, or whatever animal shelter deals with strays.... (its illegal to take the pets and dump them elsewhere- or to poison them)
you can erect a better fence to keep cats out of your yard or plant your yard so cats dont like it - they dont like moth balls.....
get a dog..
or really - lighten up a bit.. I had cats use my yard too - its not really that much of a crisis.. there are far more serious things in the world than cat poop...
I suppose you complain about worms and wild birds pooping in your garden too? - at least the cats bury their poop

My cats are indoor--they use the litterbox. So they poo and pee in my house. I don't like outdoor cats doing their business in my yard either--if I have to clean up after my cats then other people should clean up after theirs!!

It's just a natural thing for animals to poop outside. Before we had toilets where did we poop? Outside.
