I wish I could say I am surprised. Sadly I have a feeling that the family will probably be harassed by the Army for "hiding" the relative. Kind of like the blind man was hounded in the 1970s. They said he was faking his blindness to avoid the draft.

No, I would just see it as a harmless snafu. It happens. Of course I am not a weak, thinskinned liberal professional whiner. They would complain about getting a million dollars in cash because they didn't like the denominations of the bills.

Hell, I've been retired from the Army with 20 years service and I still get them. Who cares? The Military just uses a list of names and send the letters off, they don't bounce it against who has served or moved or died or been arrested or etc.etc. I would have forgotten about it, but that's my generation. Now it's seen as a threat or insult? Give me a break!

I received a jury notice when I was 13. Any system run by civil servants is doomed to mediocrity.

I wouldn't be mad... just sad that no mattter how much money we throw into the government every year, at all levels, it still performs worse than the worst corporations.

Sure, I'd be a bit upset just because of the emotional loss of losing a family member. But I also understand unintentional mistakes happen...

Yes, I'd probably be a little upset. I would also realize that mistakes happen and no one INTENTIONALLY tried to hurt me. This cannot seriously be an issue for anyone other than those involved.

No, I would not. Anybody who has served in the military knows this kind of screw up is normal. I guess the reason you don't know that is because you never served.

I know this was done by accident.. BUT if I got that letter. I would be absolutly LIVID. It would be just another reminder of what I lost and i would find it highly disrespectful to the FAMILY of said soldier.

Although the army is a fairly massive bureaucratic group, I'd still be mad.

No obviously it was a mistake. Just notify them to take your loved one off their mailing list.
