If the installation was installed over earlier version of Windows then your documents should all remain intact. You might have a problem if the programme containing your file was running at the time of installing Windows.

Shouldn't have any problem with documents if you do not format the hard drive before installation. Format will erase all files.

if you try to get a programme called FINALDATA, its a little expensive but totally worth it. by this program you can scan your computer for data that have been deleted 3 months ago and it still can revive it with a success ratio of 85%.
