is correct? That 3rd world mothers with no food don't stimulate their kids with toys so the kids are mental? My mom says it is usually a white person w/no kids or someone w/no kids who says this. She says the most of them are unmarried too who say this.

The adults of third world countries obviously arent mental, since they hold jobs, raise families and care for themselves as best as they can in their given circumstances.

If babies in third world counties were so void of stimulation the result would be countless generations of under developed adults.

Just 50 years ago babies in our own country didnt have the colorful array of toys and activities that they do today. And those children certainly didnt grow up into retards, since those same infants grew into adults and gave birth to your mother.

Babies needs stimulation, but commercial toys only make this easier and safer. Interaction with mom and the outside world is more than enough to stimulate the mental, physical and emotional growth of infants.

Get real.

In fact, recent studies indicate that the vast usage of all these plastic baby items, carriers, strollers, walkers, etc, results in delayed physical development because the child is often too confined to gain the muscle needed for growth. Babies need skin to skin contact with mom (baby wearing is actually foremost in 3rd world countries) and plenty of time laying on their bellies and backs, something babies today in america just dont get.
