We need more information. If he is going to the US temporarily and keeping his permanent residence abroad (and never mind the question of the chance that he could die while in the US of his illness) he is entitled to bring a medical or personal attendant with him for a specific period of, say, a year or less; or sometimes even longer.

If he is moving permanently abroad, he probably cannot take a foreign personal attendant who intends to stay in the USA rather than just accompany him and then leave to return home.

Just have valid American passport and prescription for meds, if he has to take then on flight,
