How many ladies today know that it is vital for a man to seek you out. A man knows what he wants and if it's you he will ask you out. I'm always surprised at the number of women who defy this basic rule. A man must pursue the woman if she is to be held in high regard.

I know there are women who agree with me and I'd love to hear from you. I know there are many independent women who disagree and I respect that so I understand if you skip this question.

I agree with you to a point. But I don't feel that it is a hard fast rule. It is definitely nice that the guy ask the girl out but sometimes you have to take matters into your own hands and ask him out. From there if he is interested he will start pursuing the girl. Some guys may be too shy to take the first step and need the encouragement.

I get that...but it sounds a little sexist.

Under that logic (assuming you are not a sexist), shouldn't we be pursuing men, because it is the only way for them to be held in high regard?

You want a good relationship, you both have to respect eachother. And so it's just a toss up who will do the asking.

I don't really think it matters in this day and age who asks out whom. However, I prefer to be asked out myself — not because it feels good for the guy, but because it feels good for me. It's a nice boost to the ego. Also, I have better things to do than pursue men. (I am an independent woman, by the way. VERY independent.)

I like a man to pursue me. That way I know he is really interested in getting to know me better. Many men like women to take the first initiative, and that is alright on both ends. But I won't 'chase' a man. I like him to show his interest first.

I would never ask a guy out...

Men like to pursue and the capture...it goes back to the days of hunting for food...Men hunted and wthe women where gathers....

I find that there is nothing sexist about having the guy ask you out...and you not asking a guy out....Some things, are better left as they are....

I hold true to that theory. Mind you, the dates are few but if a man wants to see me then he should ask!
Besides, I'm too old to go chasin'... : )

There is none. It is against the law for women to NOT have equal rights, so why shouldn't we be able to ask them, we could ask them to marry us if we wanted to!!!
