I am trying to figure out my budget, so I am looking forward to starting my taxes. When do we receive everything?

Most forms have to be mailed by January 31st. If you have a brokerage account, it may be delayed or get revised. You can often get your mortgage interest statement online and sometimes your W-2, if you work for a large employer. You could even get your property tax statement online as well.

The fastest way to get your refund is to file electronically and have it deposited directly into your bank account. The earliest you can file is January 12th. Returns filed electronically and accepted by the IRS by Thursday of one week have the refund deposited on the Friday of the following week (although some banks may take a day or two to process it). So, the earliest you can get a refund is January 26th.

skip gave an excellent answer regarding taxes. Because you mentioned your budget, I wanted to add. If you need your tax refund to make your budget work, your budget doesn't work.
