'On several occasions the former "psychic medium" Derek Acorah was purportedly possessed by an entity, sometimes evil or sometimes "lost and confused." One such case which exposed Derek was the Kreed Kafer Possessionat Bodmin Gaol, Cornwall, where Derek was seemingly possessed by a spirit whose name was an anagram of Derek Faker. It became common knowledge locally that before the filming, Derek had been "fed" missinformation by local pranksters who had sat in the bar and loudly discussed the non-existent ghost of Kreed Kafer, hoping that he would use what he heard. It would appear that he did.
The show's presenter and executive producer, Yvette Fielding said in an interview that she believes it was a fake possession[1]. However it is unlikely that it will ever be known whether this was in fact a real paranormal event. Another possible theory is that Derek only thinks he is getting possessed, when in all actuality he's imagining things. Other people might say the possession-of-the-day (week, for the television one-off version) made the shows more interesting. In the same interview, Yvette Fielding said that following the fake possession Derek had to leave the show, since it was contrary to everything that was shown in the programmes being real. However, an analysis of the interview by the Bad Psychics founder refutes many of Fielding's claims.
Further controversy centred again in the West Country, this time in Devon. On the first night filming "Terror in Torbay", Derek mentioned a woman incarcerated by her jealous sister in the cellar of Lupton House, even coming up with the names Margaret and Eleanor. In this case, the facts were right, but the location was wrong. There is a legend in the West Country of Berry Pomeroy Castle which was to be the last night's location. Finally, at Berry Pomeroy, Yvette mentioned that he had mentioned the incarcerated sister two nights prior, yet Derek glossed over his mistake and changed the subject.'

I agree perhaps he isnt fake but when the spirits go through him you do start to wonder whether he just puts on a voice. Also when he was on Most Haunted the places that he went to, he sometimes didint get a spirit coming through him they just saw some orbs and maybe noises but on Derek Acorah's ghost towns every time its on and every place he comes through as a spirit and thats what I see as fake. Also no matter how much they say that he doesnt no where he is we never now if they do tell him information about ghosts and places. Also when he says things and asks questions they give far too much away to make him click of where the place is.
So I think parts of what he does is fake but perhaps not all of it.
Good Question!

Most Haunted is the key here: He found his real TV fame on this show! Trouble is it was proved that he'd already been to most of the places that the Most Haunted crew were filming at, and so new the basics and history.
So, you judge...
I went to the Elstree Most Haunted Live (her indoors got freebies)and I can tell you it was crap! It was so stage managed and false and the medium..well, I'll leave that for you to decide!

well what's always worried me is that he is a grown man ,allowed to walk the streets etc yet he communicates with sam his spirit guide on a daily basis-who is to all intents and purposes a dead bloke. So are we all believers without knowing it or are we just humouring him
