She's a golden retriever.
Her name is Maddie.
She is just about 5 months.
She's afraid of the TV and anything she's never seen before.
I got her from a pet store very recently.

Okay, first off, golden retrievers are my favorite dogs in the world! Secondly, you are going to have your hands full with trying to get this one socialized. First thing to do... when she is being timid like that, IGNORE HER. If you coddle her and try to coax her out from under the table, you are sending her two messages

1: wow, i get a LOT of attention when I'm under here
2: if she's trying so hard to comfort me, maybe there is something wrong and i should be afraid.

The best advice I could give you would be to get your pup enrolled in obedience classes. A skilled dog trainer can help you work through her shyness.

Google "Nothing In Life is Free" This is a training method that works wonders on all kinds of problems. Aggressive dogs become more even mannered, timid dogs become more relaxed and confident. The idea behind this training is that your dog needs to see you as a leader in order to be comfortable following you.

Good luck!

Is it possible some bad experience has happened in the kitchen? He could be scared to enter for fear of experiencing that again. It's also possible the floor is slippery and he is scared of the flooring. Reasoning aside, the way to train would be to lure your dog into the kitchen with some treats, get him to stay in the kitchen, and give him a treat. Take him out, bring him back in, and give him a treat. Repeat as many times as you feel necessary and until he's at ease in the kitchen. This will teach him that the kitchen has good things like his treats in there. Keep this up until he is no longer afraid of the kitchen. Hope this helped

Poor thing..Well first is you don't want to baby her when shes under there.(I know its hard, but all that does is intensify that behavior.) What you need to do is earn her trust. A fearful dog, can be just as dangerous as an aggressive dog, if not properly trained. When she is under there just go sit by her. Give her a treat or two. Don't pet her just sit there, let her come over to you. Then you can try to lure her out with a treat or a toy, with the command come. When she comes, give her praise and love, but not overboard it may scare her. As for new things, allow her to smell them and come around them..When she sees they are no danger, she will get over that fear. (these will take sometime, maybe even a few weeks.. Lastly enroll her obedience school...She needs to be socialized with other people and dogs. You don't want her to live in fear her whole life, and if these fears aren't addressed now, they will just continue to get worse. Best of luck to you hun..

Just give her some time, my cat used to be like that with the mop in our kitchen, but as she got older, she got out of it. Try to leave your T.V on so the dog can get used to it (she can't hide forever)

Awww! I had the same problem with my dog. She was a black lab. All I did was try to comfort her and talk to her. I tried made her feel comfortable and welcomed. It took awhile but, she finally came out and started to act like a dog. I hope that helps!
