Will she fight in combat zones and be on the fighting front lines?

Nope. Probably in some comfy, hot, tents away from most of the war zone. The service will not put any women in direct contact with any fighting. Could you imagine the PR nightmare if she were on a patrol and got killed? Heads would roll. I do not think the Marines or Army generals are that stupid. But like the engineers and commo people that got hit WAY behind lines in their mess tent. Violence knows no boundries.

She has a very good chance of going to Iraq. Since she speaks Arabic, she could well be put in an MOS(specialty) in translation. There is no 'front lines' in Iraq, so every place is a combat zone.
May God protect your friend and bless her in a mighty way for choosing to be part of the world's best fighting force! Be proud of your friend!
Write her lots and lots of letters in basic and when she gets to her duty station (U.S. or overseas). Encourage your friends, and hers, to write many, many letters. We military folks LOVE mail call. Include local and national news bits from papers and magazines. Send comics to cheer her up. Send 'care packages' of things she is unable to get 'over there.' Check with the post office for things that cannot be sent through the mail.

I doubt it very much. The army, and all service branches are in need of translators, and will not put her life in danger. Although, you are always in danger, in any type of war. I think she will be fine, and not close to the actual fighting..Tell her Good Luck, and Thank Her for protecting our Country..

I don't think our military puts women on the front lines but she may be close to them. Her skills could be used in interrogation to just helping comunicate with locals. God Bless her for joining!

As a female, she will not be put into a combat unit. Most likely, she will be used to translate when interrogating prisoners and detainees.

She will be out there, we worked with a few women translators in iraq. She wont be knocking down doors and the like, but she will be in harms way, but after her training, she will be alright.

She has a good chance of being in combat.

All translators don't sit in comfy offices.
