Two of the same sex are more likely to fight unless one is more submissive than the other. But two of different sexes will breed unless you spay the female. Theres pros and cons to both choices so just decide whats best for you.

I'd recommend waiting till your pup is a little older.

Your boy is bang on to start his adolescent stage and they can become quite a handful then - defiance and naughtiness and testing the boundaries - and changing from that cute little feller who follows you round and does what you say to a juvenile delinquent!!

Doesn't happen to every dog, and some dogs have it worse than others, but it's something to consider.

I wouldn't fancy having a teenage tearaway and a baby pup to look after at the same time. You wouldn't want your new little pup to learn the wrong things from the older one now would you!

As for boys or girls. You have a boy? Get a girl. So long as you plen to neuter/spay them that seems to be the happiest pairing. Two girls can be horrible as can two boys...though they can also live together nicely.

Boys and girls - mixed can make the best pairing.

If this is your first time keeping a dog, I'd suggest that you just stick to one. Just an 8 month old pup, you may not know the full weight of responsibilities on your shoulders. As they get bigger, they'll eat more and definitely eat more out of your budget. Getting another pup will cost twice as much, which can really be a blow on your wallet.

If you're sure that you could keep another dog (no problem financially or time-wise), then I'd suggest that you get a NEUTERED female. And neuter your males too. You don't want to find out too late that you have more on your hands than you can handle. In fact, if they're both neutered, it doesn't matter much which sex you get, as long as they can get along well with each other.

I'd try a girl, but make sure both animals are neutered or you could end up with more puppies!
If you have the room and can provide the care then yes definately get another.
BUT please don't buy from breeders, puppy farms, or even pet stores.

Stop this from happening!
Try a shelter/rescue, am sure you will find your perfect campanion. You can even take the puppy you have along too, to see if he gets along with the new pup.

Good luck!

As long as you have them both spayed/neutered (which I highly recommend if you are not a professional breeder) it shouldn't matter. Some people prefer males, some prefer females, and some people have no preference. I think it would be more important to choose the dog with the right personality for you, regardless of its sex.

It would be best if you got a girl. If you get another male dog, most likely they will be fighting a lot over who get to be the alpha dog. If you got a girl there will not be as much fighting between the two.

It relies upon more effective on the guy dogs then on the sex. we've had many woman dogs, all staggering yet each with a diverse personality. an identical is real for the male dogs we've commonplace. if you're adopting from a protect, they could have the capacity to help you locate the suitable in fantastic condition for you.

Depends on wether you are going to neuter either of them!! could cause problems otherwise, if you are then a boy and girl go really nicely together! 2 boys can sometimes fight.

Boy, becasue if you do get a girl, your first dog might get protective of the girl. It depends on the tempermant of the dog you have now though.
