He should get a facial first to start with a clean slate. He sounds like he has an abundant amout of oil production. He should also look into washing his face more, many 2 or 3 times a day. Keeping his hands off his face helps too.
Also, diet plays into what your skin looks like. What is he eating and does he drink enough water? 8 glasses a day is the minimum required.

Use a good cream for spots and blackheads like clearasil 7 day cream- My son is having this problem and been using this cream for 2 weeks and has made a real difference.
You can get the clearasil face wash too. I have heard not to squeeze blackheads as this can cause scaring and spread the bacteria!

He needs deep cleaning, with lots of steam done in a good, reputable spa. They work wonders, he can get a deep cleaning once every three months, it takes about an hour, and all the blackheads will be gone. When you book, ask for deep pore cleansing. Forget about store-bought products, they don't clean deep enough and they strip the skin precious of natural oils. Good luck.

Extraction ;o) You have to take him to a get a facial. They have all the tools and will extract them for him. They usually use steam to open the pores and have all the creams and lotions to cleanse the skin after wards. He might think its only for girls, but you have to convince him that men go for it too. Maybe make a spa day for the two of you.
Added:::::If he is that stubborn about it, give up. He can only help himself when he wants to, or in this case IF he wants too!
Good Luck!

Tell him to use a scrub after he washes his face. An exfoliating scrub will help to loosen them. Also a clay mask once or twice a week will deep clean the pores. My wife used to work in the skin care business and she got me doing all of this and it really works. You have to do it on a regular basis though for it to really work and keep working.

DON'T squeeze them, makes it worse.
Tell him to use a scrub, like clearasil's one. Picking them just makes them open up and he'll have scabs instead! Sexy!
