Oh he is 100% adorable!!! Are his eyes really that blue? If they are, how about calling him China, or Mr China?
Having said that, a couple of other names just popped into my head as I was viewing your lovely pics - Horrocks and Sparky. (Don't ask me why, I have long ago stopped wondering about how my brain works!)
Well done for adopting this gorgeous little fellow and all the best of luck with him, I'm sure he will give you many years of unconditional love.

I almost always name my cats, based on their personalities. I watch them for a while... a month or so, then name them. I've even taken up to six months to give some of my cats a name. Some of my cats have several names. Some that can't be mentioned in this forum! ;-) They answer to all of them.
You can use the typical names such as Blackie, Midnight, Shadow, Onyx, Ebony, Inky, Negra, Chocolate, etc. But, frankly, I would choose the name that truly fits him such as one that fits his personality. It may have nothing to do with his color.
However there are exceptions. For example, I have a cat that a young boy asked me to buy at a flea market. He had a hold of her so tight and was squeezing her to pieces; the poor kitty was about half dead and the boy asked me if I would give him a dollar for his kitty. I gave him the dollar and then named her "Dollar". The following year, she had kittens. One of the kitties was coal black just like her and as both momma & baby grew it was hard to tell the momma and the baby apart... they were very small cats to begin with. Finally, it hit me one day... to name Dollar's baby, "Fifty Cent", since she was about half the size of her momma. So now, I have a "Dollar" and "Fifty Cent". Makes for a lot of conversation both at home and always gives the veterinarian a laugh.
So it really depends on your own choices and by what standard you want to use to name your kitty.
Good luck.

Congratulations on your new kitten! Pepper's an lovable little call. I actually have a black cat, too, and that i named him Boscoe (it incredibly is a variety of chocolate sauce offered in some states interior the U.S.). Pepper's stunning, because of the fact it illustrates her fur shade and might additionally point out her character. :)

I have had black cats for the past 20 years. Not sure why they were all black (maybe so the cat hair in my home was all the same color, hehe)... anyhow, I had a boy kitty whom I named Bagheera, after the black leopard in The Jungle Book.
After that we decided to honor the "older" generation with our cats' names: Frannie and Olive.
Congrats on the new kitty.
