I made an appointment to get my newly adopted male cat neutered this coming Friday, however, there is a problem. I never thought of it beforehand, but do I have to be a certain age to take him to the vet and get this procedure done? I'm 17, and I'm afraid I can't find anyone else to take him. The clinics neuter drop off times are between 10-11, both of my parents work outside the city during the week and the clinic is closed on weekends. What should I do about this? I really want to get him neutered!

Thanks, I was hoping there was no age requirement. I volunteer at the shelter regularly, so what I was thinking of doing is using them as a reference, because everyone who works there knows me well. It's 65 dollars plus tax to get him neutered, and I definitely have the funds. Even after spending 280+ dollars on him so far, and that was just for the must haves! Nothing but the best for my Kitty!

There isn't an age restriction that I know of, but if you're worried, check with the vet. If they require an adult to be there, ask if you can bring a note from your parents instead.

You sound very responsible and are doing the right thing by getting your cat neutered and taking care of him.

I doubt if anyone will ask your age when you drop off the kitty. You can use your shelter "references" if asked or maybe you could even have a note from your parents that they approve of the procedure the cat is going in for.

It's wonderful that you are volunteering at the shelter and know the importance of having cats and dogs "fixed" for the sake of their health and that of your community.

It shouldn't be a problem as long as you have the money. But usually you have to sign a disclaimer so they might want an adult. I would just call the vet. Or have your mom or dad call and explain that you are bringing in the cat, and that it is your responsibity. Good luck to you, and your cat.

You may want to call your vet and make sure it is ok that you drop off, pick up and pay. It shoudn't be a big deal as long as you can fill out the paperwork and have all the info. that they need from you.

I took my cat to the vet a few times when I was in high school, so I don't think you will have any problems.

It would be really odd for a veterinarian to ask your age. As long as you have the funds to pay for the services, everything will be fine.
