9mm is probably the cheapest centerfire cartridge there is. That being said you can go much cheaper. The 22 is the cheapest both in gun and ammo. It is also more accurate. Beyond that it has a lower report less recoil and is all around more fun. If you want to plink go with a 22

There are inexpensive 9mm pistols. You can get great deals on previously owned guns, like Glock's for $399 or a Ruger semi-auto for as little as $225. If you want even less expensive, Hi Point makes a 9mm you can buy for $169 new with a lifetime warranty. They're not high end, but for plinking they work rather well and you can read the reviews on them online. I'd spend a little bit more money and go with a used Springfield Armory XD 9mm for $400. They're the best.

If someone does have a new-in-box .9mm for sale for a hundred bucks, grab it. LOL! Actually, I am leary because that is way too cheap. What's wrong with it? Will it self destruct after fifty rounds? S&W actually made a .380 rated for only a couple of thousand rounds. Ask them why it is so low priced and let us know.
Best,
H
P.S. .9mms are fun to plink with.

It's probably a Hi Point. A cheap gun that you could use for target practice, but never bet your life on it. Read the reviews on bad feeds, stovepipes, etc. But 9's are fun and resonable for plinking. If you want to go real affordable, get a 22.

If you want to "Plink" with it...Its one of the cheapest rounds to do it with(center fire). A good Sporting Store will have the cheap Ammo.....Like "WOLF" or other surplus brands in stock......Gun shows are a great source for them also....
Also if all you are going to do is "plink"..you can save the brass "boxer primed" and sell them on E-Bay....

Well like the first awsner they are not cheap at all. But you can find some cheap ones here in Texas! And when you find one, all of the money you spent on it was worth it.

They are not cheap, and if you enjoy shooting on a range, they can be fun to shoot. Do you even know what a 9mm is?
