There's a great book called "What People Wore". It gives examples of what Europeans and north Africans wore from early history to around 1900, and it's really cool. It's not online, sorry, but it might be good if you're going to need ideas like this on a regular basis.

This worked cool.. Type a few dates like 1850 or 1840 etc.. No words just the numbers

Old Sears Catalog. Maybe a reprint. Your local library may have newspapers from that time of film. Check the ads.

That is a long time and there were many changes during that 100 years. One good way to be sure you get the average people is to ask all your family and friends to email you opld photos from that time.
