We live in the UK now and will be moving back to the US in a year and a half or so. We want to buy a large, flat panel tv here but want to make sure we can take it back with us. what brands are best? What is better, plasma, lcd? What should we look for?

I'd wait.....USA's signal format is ATSC-HD and NTSC-SD right now. NTSC will be turned off in 2009.

BUT in England....THEY USE PAL.....

The signal formats are incompatible and NON-Convertible....

The Frenchy-Frenchmen use SECAM....did you ever take your TV over to France?
It won't work there either....

Just wait until you get back to the USA....for now just Rent to own or Rent to Rent if you can....

No such thing, as tv standards and voltage/frequency are very different. Also much cheaper to buy a TV in the US.
