Well - people have already listed the tools - but - a hint - get a professional to quote you for it and gleen as much information about the job from them but not so they think you are just using their knowledge.
Like "so how to you tidy the ceiling up?" and "will it make a mess of the remaining walls?"....etc....etc....
You will them know if this is beyond your capabilities or really you might as well pay them to do it as they will also, if a true professional, get rid of the all rubbish and work to an acceptable standard and also you should get an invoice from them so, when you sell the property, you can prove the work was done by a tradesman in case your surveyor has a gripe over the work.

I use a sabre saw or reciprocating saw. Make sure that you know where any power cables, gas or water pipes run and make certain that its not a load bearing wall. Then you can saw the wall into pieces that you can carry away. With the right saw blade, you can cut through tiles and nails. Much less mess than a big hammer.

First make sure it is not a supporting wall. You will need a sledge hammer, crowbar and masonry chisel. Dust sheets to keep the dust out from other rooms. I generally start in the middle. Don't go mad, take carefully and make sure no pipes or wiring are in the wall before you start.
