Can you prove Biblicly that suicide will keep you from going to heaven? There is only one unforgivable sin, and that is to sin against the Holy Ghost. If that is your answer, how do you prove it Biblicaly? If you say murder, you can not kill the Holy Ghost. Does the Bible say anywhere that suicide and murder are the same? Does it say that Judas Iscariot was not allowed into Heaven? He was the only disciple that Jesus called His friend? No I am not going to commit suicide. No I am not advocating suicide. I am trying to help a grieving friend, and still stay in the Word of God. Thanks.

You do not switch kingdoms every time you commit a sin. If you are in the kingdom of light your sins are forgiven before you even commit them. If you are in the kingdom of darkness you are lost in your sin. Losing your salvation because you commit suicide is only possible if you are committing suicide having let yourself slide away from the kingdom of light to your former life. This is a gradual process of neglect and not usually a renouncement. IF a person loves God and commits suicide they will still go to heaven. This is not a popular announcement as people try to sway Christians from suicide but it is the truth. Judas may well be in heaven just as Adam is likely to be. Having a relationship with God is the critical matter that determines a persons fate.

suicide is murdering yourself, not the Holy Ghost..

judas was NOT the only disciple that He called his friend.. i do not know where you go that...Jesus had indicated that Judas was someone who had chosen evil and therefore lost at that point. If Judas killed himself because he was prompted by the devil, then he continued to be lost...if somehow he repented the seconds before he died, we will never know until the next life...so do not use Judas for an example...

As far as suicide is concerned, there is usually a time difference between when the person initiates the act and when they actually take their last breath. If that person was alone, then we again have no idea if there was regret in the person's mind once they initiated the suicide act. They may have seconds, minutes, or longer before they actually die. Also, i think if the person was mentally ill, and died because of mental illness prompting the action, but they were otherwise a believer in Christ, God will consider this with an attitude of mercy. I personally would consider any person who commits suicide mentally ill in some way. It is best to trust God in this, and know that he understands well if people are sick and do not have enough power to control their own actions. It says in scripture that He wishes that no one should perish.

1 Corinthians 3:17 states: "If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are." This can be used as a warning against body piercings, tattoos and suicide, depending on one's point of view.

I'm not a Christian. My personal belief is that most suicides are committed out of confusion, but not all of them - some suicides are sane and rational acts. No one can say that every suicide is "murder" or a "sin" of some kind; common sense tells us otherwise. Terminal illness with no hope of recovery is one example of a very few when suicide is certainly not wrong. If a mother dies protecting her child from harm, that's suicide too, but no rational person would call that wrong.

There are only presumptions about what certain verses of the bible mean. There is no biblical directive specifically against self-murder.

I have no doubt that God understands and forgives people who commit suicide. A person who does that is suffering for some reason, and the whole Bible is full of God's compassion with people who suffer.

My son committed suicide years ago, and I am absolutely certain that God loved and forgived him. Somebody gave me a beautiful Bible verse which meant a lot to me. I will look for it and add it if I can find it.

Your friend has my deepest sympathy. It's a terrible thing to go through, but God is good. He carries you through.

Got it: Psalms 139: 7 - 12.

Also, the prayers of a group of Christians one night did something amazing for me: it felt as if mountains were rolling off my shoulders and I could face the world again, without the sleeping pills and antidepressants.

Suicide is not unforgivable.
Especially since it is the distraught, the mentally ill or heavily depressed that commit suicide in most cases.

Concerning Judas though is different. He was very wicked and greedy and whether he killed himself or not, had no place in the Kingdom of God.

Act 1:25 to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place."

so sorry to hear about your friends loss
no i am not Christian but ...
when people commit suicide they are usually in so much pain ... they are ill and not in their right frame of mind
now with respect ... it does not matter what the bible says about murder and if people think that and suicide is the same
there are situations surrounding these events that we can never know ... we cant and should not judge that
only God can
and i feel that God will see the heart of the person and know that the suicide was not an easy answer , not something that is punishable
but that the person needs love and caring

Tests For Christian Clergy
What would you think of a salesman who wouldn’t use the very product he sells? He would appear to be a hypocrite and it wouldn’t make sense for you to buy what he’s selling.
The same holds true for Christian preachers and ministers. If they don’t believe enough in the teachings of the book they’re trying to sell you, the Bible, to demonstrate its truth according to its own teaching, then they’re really not followers of nor believers in the Bible.
A case in point is Mark 16:15-18 which says among other things that those who believe in Jesus and the Bible can “drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; and they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
If this is true, which I know by using my God-given reason that it is not true, then any Christian who wants to win millions (of people, not dollars!) for the Lord can easily do so by publicly and verifiably drinking a pint of deadly poison before his or her church service. If the Bible holds true and the preacher does not drop dead, almost everyone in attendance would become a Christian.
If they’re not in the mood to guzzle some poison, they can go to their local hospital and “place their hands on sick people”, and I mean really sick people not the hard of hearing or someone with a minor ailment, and clear out the hospitals! Of course, this Bible promise is not true either. Based on these two false claims, it doesn’t look like the Bible is from God!
The only way to get closer to God is by using the gift of reason that God has given you. Our God-given reason tells us these Bible promises are nonsense and have absolutely nothing to do with God. Isn’t it time we honor our Creator and ourselves by rejecting the superstitions of the Bible and the “revealed” religions? It’s time to call a spade a spade and reject the Bible for what it is – ancient mythology that has nothing to do with Nature’s God!

I don't think that it does say and I don't think it will send you to hell if you are a true believer that christ died for you and arose and if you ask forgiveness for your sins. I think when you commit suicide, it is a moment in your life where you are a little insane. I have been there before. So, I hope this helps. God bless you and your friend

Murder is killing a human being, so suicide is murder. The way I see it, "murder" is a forgivable sin if you repent and turn back toward God, but if you kill yourself, what time do you have to repent before you stand before Him for judgment? I understand why you're asking...my aunt commit suicide and the last thing I want to think about is her in hell, and I pray there's a way it isn't true, but this is the best answer I can give.
