Strep throat (or "Streptococcal pharyngitis", or "Streptococcal Sore Throat") is a form of Group A streptococcal infection that affects the pharynx.
The illness is caused by the bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes and is spread by direct, close contact with patients via respiratory droplets (cough or sneezing). Casual contact rarely results in transmission. Other complications that can occur include an ear infection, sinus infection, or an abscess on the tonsils (peritonsillar abscess).
Antibiotic treatment will reduce symptoms slightly, minimize transmission, and reduce the likelihood of complications.
Taking lozenges or methol does not necessary solve the root of the problem, cause they only mask the irritations.
But if you really refuse medications, the best way is by "water parade". Drink lots of water at one shot (500-700mls) three times a day is one of the most simple way to deal with it. Of cause there are some common food that you may like to avoid.
If the problem persist, consult your nurse or doctor.
Take care.
