Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

Go back and read the account in Genesis. God created man on the 6th day. Adam and Eve were created AFTER the Sabbath Day. (no I'm not 7th day adventist) When Cain slew Able he went to the land of Nod and took a wife there. They WERE NOT related, and Adam and Eve WERE NOT the first man and woman. Read it for yourself in the Book of Genesis. I do not see how someone can believe in the Word of God, and not know this when it is WRITTEN in the first book of the Bible. Are people that spiritualy blind that it is there in front of them and cannot read it?

Because the bible is mythology and should not be taken literally. It is and would have been genetically impossible for all of humanity to come from just two people, because they would have to inbreed in order to reproduce and by the second or third generation the mutations would have been so bad that the offspring would be sterile. Most cultures have an incest taboo for this very reason.

God allowed incest in the beginning, because He wanted the world to grow and prosper. At the time of His choosing, He forbid it. No one can say what facters played into that, or the exact time God chose to not allow it. At the time of Gods choosing, He altered some of the chromosomes in the people and then told them not to have sex within close family circles. It was Gods plan and will to do it this way and no one will know all the answers to all the queations until the day He chooses to reveal then to us. There is scientific proof backing up the chromosome theory, based on human skeletal remains unearthed from those days. Just like in the days when God says He decided to confuse the language on earth. At one time, we all spoke the same language. Now we speak many languages. I am not sure why, or how, but God says it was for our own good.

Tough it is just a story, but even the Bible mentions that after Adam and Eve were kicked out of paradise, he and Eve run into people who never lived in paradise. So did their kids.

Eve gave birth to fraternal twins several times. a male could marry his sister as long it was not his fraternal twin sister. This was permitted at the time of Adam and Eve. Later on, to marry one's brother or sister became forbidden by God in His infinite wisdom.

Incest is wrong because it is genetically very disadvantageous. Most mammals avoid incests, too, like big felines etc.
