he asked me out?

we have shared interest and he asked me to go out to this shared interest event with him.He also said he would pay.If a guy does this and asks me to have a bet with him but says if i lose he'll still share half the alcohol with me what does this mean?is he looking for more and is he being subtle or am i just blind?

I would tell him that I don't drink alcohol and I pay for my half of the dates so that there will be no expectations at the end of the date! If we wind up going on more than one date, then I would pay one date then he would pay the next, and so on....I did say that and I do not drink. I am upfront and honest. Most guys did expect things after because they paid. I let them know upfront they were not going to get anything of the sort, so we would go dutch. The one guy I said this too was quite curious as to why and now almost two years later, we are boyfriend and girlfriend. We were just friends in between. He knows exactly how I am and we got to know each other as friends. It is much better this way.

Be honest with him. If you don't want something like that, then tell him, especially since it is new and you are going together as a shared interest. Tell him you would like to go as friends and nothing else. If you get to know each other as friends and decide you like each other more, then maybe you would like to pursue a relationship further.

The alcohol kind of gave that away, but quite possible he's just trying to get you to drink less(If my assumptions were correct) or just playing around like men do alot.
