HI,
It is having a plan for a natural disaster, usually having something like a back pack packed with extra medications if you are on one, blanket, food, spare clothing, etc, at home you can have extra canned foods stocked up, water enough for a week they say 3 days but a week would be better, a battery powered radio, flash light, candles, first aid kit, generator for power outage and so on.
hope this helps,
Lammy

You prepare for a disaster by defining and mapping what areas of the city are going to be most lucrative to loot. Have a good plan . You will need a place to store the looted items . Try to make a list of the things you want to loot.
Get a list of all agencies that will be giving out money. Do not worry with the ones giving blankets or food. Just concentrate on getting as much cash as possible. Make sure you have the phone number and the name of the head of the aid agency.
Have all your financial information available so that you can make application for emergency loans. It helps to have several sets of identification so you can apply several times.

People have tried to explain with ref to the contemporary understanding of the term. But in a figurative sense, we are all preparing for the generation of disaster itself.. People generally talk of global warming, depletion of ozone cover, etc as potential dangers ever building up due to over consumption of energy (for production of various consumer articles as well as direct utility in houses and offices) that cause pollution as the gateway to (preparedness for) diaster, since the fall out is progressive loss of sustainability of resources... increased disruption of harmony (water wars, energy wars..)... etc

But the real gateway /preparedness for disaster is the loss of human soul and fostering of bestial qualities... that actually lead to all types of deviancy and deadly activities... including unsatiated craving for more and more pleasure through all and sundry.... at the cost of health and harmony at home and society...

The noble qualities are on the wane and education is not of "man making" exercise but "job oriented" one... all for material pursuits... Elders by and large do not set right examples for the children to follow... that is the danger around.. The disaster had already come.. Look at the statistics of broken homes, deviant children, increased intoxication, unprovoked violence, etc... Do not just look at the typhoons and tsunamis... they are only secondary symptoms..

But a silent revolution is also brewing... if you are one who has any connection with service /spiritual movements (NOT orthodox religious ones) of whatever denomination, you will find the force of love and compassion is already unleashing healing vibrations of peace and hope in the hearts of many suffering and forlorn souls...

So the disaster already unleashed - with the herald of plenty and prosperity through industrial and rainbow revolutions and culminated in exploitation and wars - still carries the hope of a revival of human (in contrast to animal) culture and the resultant peace and joy in the globe...
