I have very curly hair, and my fringe is grown out to the same length and the rest of my hair. My problem is that despite the curls, the roots of my hair lie flat, so the bottom is curly and the top just looks lank and bad.

Anyone know some good tips to get it to sit up all day long?

I agree with what others say about blowdrying hair upside down. I have the same problem (my hair is straight though :\) but my hair will stay less flat if blowdrying it upside down and aiming the blowdryer at my roots and shaking my hair around (lol). It can be a lot of work to get it all dry (when I don't, my hair definetly goes flat, bleh) but I find that by lifting it slightly with a circular brush, the roots dry more upright, and are not so weighed down to my scalp.

How thick is your hair though, too? Mine is quite thin, so it tends to get weighed down by products extremely easily. But even if it's thick, I think there's a possibility that the weight of your hair at the bottom is really weighing it down on top (causing the flatness on top).

My other suggestions are:
1. Make sure you rinse out all your conditioner.
You should probably only apply conditioner to your ends if you don't already, because it can really weigh your hair down on top.

2. Try using minimal product on your hair to see if things improve.
Sometimes a gel or hairspray causes your hair to be too weighted down also. Do you use frizz-ease for your curls perhaps? I know that that tends to way my roots down.

3. Try blowdrying hair upside down. You probably shouldn't blow it all the way out everyday, but I know that mine is so much lighter when it's all the way dry. If I leave in moisture, it tends to weigh my hair down all day.

4. Sometimes when I've already dried my hair, but I've got flatness on top, I will switch my part a little. It naturally is propped up a little because it wants to go the other way. You might need a tiny bit of hair gel just at the top to keep it in place, but then I usually don't have a problem.

Hope that helps!
Good luck

the right of your head that the hat covers will probable be extra flat than in case you does not positioned on a hat...yet you will probable have hat hair after your hair dries & you're commencing up that hat, because of the fact the right would be extra flat than the hair that may not coated by technique of the hat (if there is hair that may not coated by technique of the hat).

Dry it with your head down. I dont use a blowdryer but have babyfine hair. the softness is a plus but it is flat. Put some mousse in while its still wet and dry it with your head on the downside.

How about blow drying it with your head upside down, that's how I get volume into my roots. And use a volumising mousse in the roots only.
