In this vast "melting pot", Simply living in the united states, doesn't make you an American. Its a term held within your heart. An American stands for freedom, truth, justice, and rights.

If you live in ireland, Do you also have these said given rights or freedoms listed above?..

If you live in America, everyone assumes your an "American" or via versa. Not all persons living here are Americans. They have been given work permits, came here to escape the political views of their countries and yes some are here illegally.

So to say your an "American", think about those persons in other countries. Their rights, Their freedoms or The lack there of.

Do I consider myself an American?.. hardly, Although I was born here, I feel there should be a "100 year " restriction rule. This would scale back on those whom have not been in this country long enough and send them back to where they came.

The Americans of today, Have grown fat, and become greedy, unfeeling and need to swallow their prides, buckle down and remove issues like welfare, and hunger here in the states instead of abroad just to name a few.

Btw. My roots are from Ireland as well. síochán
