I am expecting my second baby and need ideas for names. My first child is called zoe. I don't know whether this one is a girl or a boy.
I like the name sophie but do you think Zoe and Sophie sound silly together
Anyone got any suggestions?

I noticed with my two girls I would pore through baby names books for hours and write down all the names I liked and their meanings, I noticed that a certain name kept popping up all through my pregnancies, with my first it was the name Caitlyn, it just kept popping into my thoughts even though I didn't love the name, the moment I saw her I knew she was Caitlyn, the same happened with my second daughter, I had lists and lists of lovely names and on the end of each list was one name, Alicia, and I hated the name, I never really liked it much but when I saw my daughter I named her Alicia right away and it suits her, it's a good system for me, always keep a few open names, don't just decide on one. Because only you will know when you see that beautiful little bundle of joy.

My own little piece of advice, Sophie sounds beautiful, and while the names Sophie and Zoe will most probably get mixed up it does no harm, my sister and I had that problem, people would always call me Rebecca, but I am a fan of traditional names, I think they are safe, and easy to say and spell for the kids. That's just my opinion, I mean I love some of the more popular names now, i think they are lovely, but not for my kids. Like I said only you will know.

I think Sophie and Zoe sound nice together - they both end in the same sound so they sound matched.

I may be a bit biased, but I think Zoe and Emma sound nice together :)

I think that Zoe and Sophie sound good together. How about Gianna?

I love both names, but while not silly, they do sound very similar. It may cause a little confusion if you are trying to call one from another room someday :-)

How about Sophia instead, that way, the ending is a totally different sound and the confusion would be lessened.

Congratulations on your new blessing,
Mom of 5 with another on the way

They sound fine together, Sophie is a sweet name. I also like Darcie or Brook for a girl and James is nice for a boy. My two boys are called Kian and Joel and my nephew is called Blake, I think they are nice names too!

Why don't you check the local bi-laws.

In Australia if the child is not named within 30 days parental naming rights go into default. Once in default the registar of Births Deaths and Marriages has to name the child.

It worked for my four children they all hate their names but at least they can't blame me...
