It stands for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. ICE is a part of the Department of Homeland Security. They were formed by merging the criminal investigation branch of the U.S. Customs Service (USCS), Department of Treasury, with the criminal investigation branch of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (USINS), Department of Justice. Both the USCS and the USINS are now defunction agencies. When the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was formed numerous agencies were pulled from their parent departments and placed in DHS, merged and renamed.

Actually...as you have asked this in the "Law enfoercement and police" category...ICE stands for "In Case of Emergency"..use this in your mobile phone..this way if anything ddi happen, the police and emergency services can go straight to your phone and get in contact with the correct person. I only heard about ICE after the 7/7 tube bombings...this is a very useful thing to know. I have 3 ICE numbers in my mobile phone....just in case.
