I've had many cats in my life (only two all black) and it seems that they are the only two that hunch thier backs when they yawn and stretch..why is this? i'm sure all cats are able to do it but i normally see other cats stretch thier front paws far out and stretch that way..just curious!

You got me to thinking. I'm on my second black cat and currently have a white one. I'm so used to seeing Alex hunch up but I can't really remember Sasha (the white one) doing it. My other black cat was the same way. Is it a girl thing? Both of my black cats are girls? Thanks for asking!

I have two black cats and they both hunch their backs when they stretch. When I got the first one and saw her do this, it totally reminded me of Halloween cat pictures. I grew up with two cats, one Siamese and one Tonkinese, and neither of those cats stretched like that (and they lived for 16 and 18 years- never saw the hunched back once!) I always wondered why my black cats did this, but my other cats didn't. I guess it is a mystery.

I can't really give you a solid answer why, but my cats were the same way! I guess it comes down to weird factors individual to the cat (like it's a proven fact that brunette women are more dependable than blondes, and brunette men are "deeper" than blonde men)

I have my first black cat (she is 12 now) and she is bonkers in many ways compared to any other cats I have had, I wish hunching her back, which she does do, was the strangest thing she does....I love her, don't ge t me wrong, we call it black cat fever,,,,,sometimes it is like she is on crack or somenting...really has crazy spells....!!!!!

maybe they have seen the halloween cat pics? lol sorry. no reason for it, probably just a coinsidence. my tabby hunched her back when stretching, it followed the paw extension. very cute though.
