I have been sick with a sore throat for a couple days now and I cant sleep! Its so annoying because the only thing that helps my throat is sucking on losenges, but Im too scared to fall asleep with one in my mouth cause I keep thinking I will choke on it. I took a couple benadryl a few hours ago cause that usually knocks me out, but its not working. Its like my body is really tired but it wont sleep because of the pain! What can I do to help me fall asleep??

Try not to focus on the pain, and try sleeping in a very relaxing position. That should work. If you still feel like you can't fall asleep try some sore through medicine as well. That should make you drowsy and also clear up your sore throat.

I have a sore throat too. I woke up with it on January 1st... Great beginning to the year, innit?!
But I have no problems sleeping. I'm so tired I fall asleep in less thant a minute...
Maybe that's because my job is very tiring, & because I'm behind my sleeping hours... I've spent too much time in front of my PC, answering questions...
The most difficult time of the day is morning. My mouth is so dry, & my throat feels like it's burnt inside... I drink a nice warm tea with lemon & honey, & it's already better...
Make a quick recovery!
With any luck, it will be the only time this year that you'll be sick!

If the pain is keeping you awake, maybe try my Grandma's tried-and-true sore throat remedy:

Take some hot water ("as hot as you can stand it," she says, but please don't boil it or you'll feel worse) and dissolve a little bit of salt and baking soda in it. Gargle.

I usually put about five or six shakes of salt and about a teaspoon of baking soda in a regular coffee mug.

Not only is the solution an antiseptic one, but it should temporarily numb the nerve endings in your throat long enough to fall asleep. I think it's the heat that numbs the nerve endings -- just like taking a really, really, really hot shower temporarily stops poison ivy itch! :)

Nyquil would be a good help-all strategy for falling asleep. Take some Nyquil, which contains medicine for pain, an antihistamine for sinus problems, and a cough supressant. If that does not work, drink some milk, which contains trytophan, a chemical that will help you fall asleep fast.

If you're in that much pain, you should see the Dr because maybe it's strep throat and that won't go away on it's own. The peopl's recommendations were good, try some of those and good luck!

Drink some hot tea, or if you have brandi sip on a little cup of that. And if you by chance have melatonin 3mg handy 1 pill will do just fine. Hope you feel better soon.

Valerian root is a homeopathic way to help with insomnia, most grocery stores carry it now with all the other vitamins. It really works.

I hope you feel better.
