Because the ones who do that think any question you ask about their religion you are just trying to insult them. They take any question as a direct attack on Jesus and also an attack on them personally. They often do not take the time to think that maybe the person is sincerely asking a question. It doesn't dawn on them that their behavior is part of the reason people end up rejecting their religion.

Because you're challenging everything they know and believe in -- everything they've based their life on. Imagine you've based your entire understanding of life, the universe, even death on your belief not only in the bible, but that it's infallible and true. If one part becomes unraveled, then it all quickly falls apart and your foundation becomes quicksand. You would then start to lash out with insults because you are afraid and your fear is expressed by anger.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Sometimes serious questions can appear as put downs. This does not excuse those of us who put you down. I can only apoligise for those of us who have attacked you and/or insulted you.
I am sure that when I see genuine questions , my answers are helpful.
Keep trying and remind us of the law of live.

Because THOSE Christians have no arguments to bring forth, so they just use the only weapon they have: ARROGANCE. Arrogance always lies behind ignorance, and, unfortunately, too many Christians are too bigot and ignorant to calmly have an exchange of views about religion with non-Christians. The good news? That there are also some enlightened Christians out there, we can have interesting conversations with;)

It doesn't seem to me that you've actually asked any serious questions about Christianity, after having a look at your profile info.
So I don't know what you're complaining about, no offense.
"Are there any atheists on death row" and "is Jesus mythological" aren't, in my book, serious questions. They're baiting questions. There's a difference.
Want a serious answer? Do your part by asking a serious question.

I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT ONE HAPPEN. WHAT IS WRONG IF SOMEONE WANTS TO USE A REFERENCE FROM THE BIBLE???NOTHING.....MAYBE YOU ARE OFFENDED BY SOMEONE JUST BEING A CHRISTIAN????I DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND WHERE YOU OUR COMING FROM. NO, MOST OF THE TIME WHEN SOMEONE REALLY LOVES THE LORD, THEY DON'T HAVE TIME TO BE INSULTING. THAT IS NOT THE CHARACTER OF JESUS CHRIST. DON'T LET THE DEVIL BEAT YOUR HEAD.(IT MEANS DON'T LET THE DEVIL TRICK YOU INTO THINKING TRUE CHRISTIANS ARE TRYING TO COME UP AGAINST YOU) JESUS IS LORD.....PRAISE THE LORD
