Yes the sound is so tranquil and if your lying down with your love it can be so beautiful to just sit and listen to it.
The sounds of early morning bird chirping has a similar effect but not as much as rain (My stars I love rain especially late in the evening when its almost night with a good dark cloudy sky)

True;
the rain reminds me of a wonderfull afternoon my wife and i spent sheltering in a bridge pavillion on West lake in China during our Silver wedding anniversary trip, it was both sexy and romantic and will live in my thoughts for ever.
PS the rain never let up and it was a miserable drive home, but the time spent at the lake was wonderful

True...It can be so many different things...
Hard on the roof, light and gentle with the breeze, so cold it forces you to cuddle. Mmmm I've had many a great night of love, courtesy of a rain storm. It's invigorating.
