This is like which one comes first, egg or chicken ? Does egg come from chicken or chicken comes from egg ?
Material is a real-visible thing which you can touch. Consciousness is something "abstract" but exist, and can be controlled by human to or not to make something else "exist". Like, eventhough I am in front of you, you can control your consciousness to "eliminate" me. BUT, you can not control your consciousness to create something from nothing, but can "un-create" something to nothing.
Material does indeed can affect consciousness or create consciousness. You see something which can change your state of consciousness, creating "a consciousness"
