Hello dear, I agree with the zap_chest. BUT there is also other reasons for forming abscesses , which was neglected. If there is an internal organ that do NOT functioning correctly and mostly cannot do vital tasks in the body, that could lead to abscesses.
The first organ that is responsible for the purification of the blood is the LIVER. If it is not functioning right, you could have plenty of annoying formations on your skin, pimples, abscesses, etc.
The same is with the colon, If one suffer from severe constipation, after a time the blood is "poisoning" and quite all affects the skin.

Hope that helps!
Have a great day!

Abscesses occur when an area of tissue becomes infected and the body is able to "wall off" the infection to keep it from spreading. White blood cells, the body's defense against some types of infection, migrate through the walls of the blood vessels into the area of the infection and collect within the damaged tissue. During this process "pus" forms, which is an accumulation of fluid, living and dead white blood cells, dead tissue, and bacteria or other foreign invaders or materials.

Abscesses can form in almost every part of the body and may be caused by infectious organisms, parasites, and foreign materials. Abscesses in the skin are readily visible and are red, raised, and painful. Abscesses in other areas of the body may not be obvious, but if they involve vital organs they may cause significant damage.

There is a very detailed answer above which deserves a best answer vote. In short when infection enters the skin it festers and becomes very sore. It then swell like a large pimple. It then will eventually burst and the infection is carried away. The wound should then be cleaned and the abscess will not return. They can happen inside the body as well. Stomach and teeth.

blood infections cause abcesses and it is common amongst inytraveinus drug users.
the goverment could help to prevent this by stopping supplies of barbed needles which are disguised as being available for people with sugar diebetis.
One company has offered new supplies of needles with a guarantee that they are not barbed ,but corruption prevents this.
If the goverment cleaned up the act the health service would save money/this is a fact
