just call the clerk of court in your city and ask.
it's not wrong to do that. a lot of people do that now. some people feel that it isn't as special but i don't see anything wrong with it.
when the time comes for your actual wedding...you will still feel like a princess!

California Marriage Requirements
Age - Over 18
Cost of Marriage Certificate - $55 - $65.00
Waiting Period - None
Valid For - 90 Days
Identification Required - Yes
Blood Test Required - No
Residency Required - No
Planning ahead: Some states require a waiting period before the license is issued. You don’t want to cut yourself short on time.
Identification: Some states require ID. Commonly accepted forms of ID are drivers’ licenses, birth certificates, social security cards and passports.
Medical Records: Some municipalities require blood tests or other medical records such as a physical exam. You may need to provide the results furnished by your doctor.
Payment: There is a fee for the marriage license. Check with the municipality first & be prepared - some places will only accept cash in the exact amount.
Presence: Many places expect both bride and groom to be there when applying to sign the application, sometimes a witness may be required as well.
Additional rules & requirements: Minors, Divorcees and Widows. If you are under 18, you may need some kind of parental permission. (Sixteen or younger? You’ll probably need a judge’s consent). If you are divorced, chances are you need to bring your divorce decree. If your previous spouse has passed away, a copy of the death certificate may be required.

I had a very nice wedding. it only cost me $2000.00 dollars CA. My mother made the wedding dress $200.00CA material. Cold cut food for reception. Volunteer caterers. Wedding rings on sale (White gold). 200 people showed up. Yeah it was assume. O yeah. got a great deal on a personal photographer $50.00 (friend of the family). You can get married for cheap but it can be hard to find the deals. Not to mention all the little nic nacs. Like center pieces , table clothes ext.. You would have to rent those. A friend saved all of her stuff from her wedding. So all of that was fee.

If that is the culture, don't shame him, but try in all the ways you can to keep the costs down. Don't add extravagant things to the wedding; insist that your family not make it more difficult on him either. One idea, but I'm not sure it would be acceptable. What if your father or mother offered some money for the wedding, would he accept that? It could be your money coming to him from your parents? But maybe that would shame him also, I don't know your culture.

that's fine, just have to pay for the license and a small fee for the service, hard to give price as it varies from city to city
took almost the same route, i got married at a small road side chapel for $ 200 then did the big wedding later for the friends and family
i did it in the city of Downy,CA the price included the license, private chapel, music, pastor, and service,
they had about 20 seats in there if you wanted to invite the parents and maybe your maid of honor

OK, the wedding is for the bride. You must make the day of her marriage a most incredible and memorable day unlike no other only to be eclipsed by the birth of her first child.
Do it right! Find a way, but do it right.

It depends how big you want it to be but I suggest that you don't make the wedding to big because you will owe a lot of money unless you are rich then go for it.

It's $50 for the marriage license, and I think it might be around $100 to actually be married there, but don't take my word for it, call your local recorder's office/courthouse to find out for sure. It's not that expensive.

It will cost a lifetime.
But if it's worth it, then it would become the sweetest expenditure you ever paid.
