A sin is not necessarily something that is wrong, it is something the world portrays is wrong. e.g. most people would say it is a sin to eat a McDonalds, but if you rarely eat them, then you haven't done such a terrible evil! On the other hand, with shame, it is more personal. You could do something that others think is acceptable, but goes against your own morals, and therefore to you is something shameful. In this respect the two go hand in hand as you feel shame because you think you have sinned.
