i was given a ticket for speeding over 30mph and clock before the speed limit sign, i believe i was targeted for having plates from another state and police officer didnt expect me to come back and fight it, but it turns out that recentrly moved here but i havent change the plates of the car yet. after he pulled me over he saw my insurance with the new address and asked me if i live here now, he also asked me if i had a job already, why? i guess because he knew if i didnt have a job this ticket was ganna look bad on my record and i was going to be push to fight it, i work driving a van for cable and this is really bad in my record and plus i dont want to pay for something that i truly believe i was unjust. does the speed limit zone starts at the speed limit sign? if it does then should i fight this ticket , i dont believe someone should pay for a crime they didnt commit. do i have a chance of winning?

Very good question. Usually there is a warning sign down the road a bit saying that there is a speed zone ahead or something like that. It is intended to warn you so you can slow down before you reach the new sign, because the instant you pass the lower speed limit sign the new speed limit is in effect. That's the same at the other end of town where you see the higher speed limit on a sign up ahead, but you can't speed up until you actually pass the sign. It's certainly not unheard of for some police to set up their radar to clock cars just a few feet after the new limit takes effect, especially if you are entering a school zone. Cheers!!

When U see a Sign it means u r in the Zone. It may be possible that u overlooked any other sign previously warning start of the limit area.
Any how fighting will not resolve as I seem, Until and Unless there was a electronic device to clear Ur situation on the case.
U can contact to higher authorities for clarification on the matter.

I have heard that the speed traps are not allowed to be in change of speed zones or at the bottoms of hills. if that speed sign was the start of the zone I think that may be a bigger issue. the sign is the start of the speed limit, like any other sign. you don't stop as soon as you see a stop sign, you stop where the sign is.

I have always been told the speed limit starts when you can see the sign. However, if I were you I would go to court and speak with the judge.
