Two vets have told me that my 12 month old female cat is likely to be spayed owing to her body shape and state. However she has just started showing mating behaviour. Is it therefore likely that she is not spayed? Or do spayed females show this behaviour?

The y still have the urge to mate

Even if she is spayed she may still have the urge to mate, but usually once they have been spayed, they lose their sexual urge quite a bit, how ever that doesn't mean she will never want it again. So it is most likely that she has not been spayed. my best suggestion would be to take her to the vet and get them to find out weather she has been or not, I'm not sure how they would do this but they are vets so they will be able to tell you. It is better to find out as soon as you can or you may end up with some unwanted kittens on your hands. And if you find out she hasn't been, unless you want to breed her, which is not really a good idea unless she is a pure breed, i would suggest getting her fixed straight away. hope this helped = )

All cats that have been desexed, still have the urge to mate at some time or another. This is very normal. Although if you are not sure if she is spayed, the vet usually tattoo's the cats ear not her belly. Otherwise you could take her to the vets just to be sure.

Good Luck

I have 2 blondes, Lavern and Shirley they are both female and were spayed as kittens. Shirley is not effected she shows no signs of any mating urges. However Lavern about 4 times a year attaches herself to one of the ball toys that is fuzzy carries it everywhere, will fetch it if you take it and throw it from her. She nuzzles it and rubs against you everytime she gets near you, she doesnt seem disturbed over this, UNLESS she loses the ball, then she cries around here driving us nuts. We are glad in a couple weeks when she returns to normal!!

check her belly.........there should be if she was spayed a make on her stomack looks like a tatoo....my cat was spayed 12 years ago and still has a problem with hair that refuses to grow back where the procedure was done so the tatoo type mark is very visible.if the cat is yowling and hunking its back, this is a sign the cat is going into heat and definately the cat is not fixed......check it out before you end up with unwanted kittens. good luck

Where did the cat come from? Wouldn't you know if it was spayed? I would find another vet and ask for a second oppinion. Say you don't know if it is fixed or not and would like them to see. If she isn't get her fixed please.

it incredibly is a male cat habit and it does mimic pussycat mating. Neutered cats will tutor the habit with spayed female cats. I even have one that became neutered at 6 months and shows the habit together with his sisters (they are throughout 8 years previous). you will possibly desire to touch the veterinary surgeon relating to the neutering. A rogue teste left interior the physique skill a excessive probability of maximum cancers.

Do most men still want their pootie-tang after a vastectomy?

Yes, they can still want it, but to be sure maybe suggest an ultrasound? The vet will be able to see if the reproductive organs are still in there.

If she was spayed later on then yes she will still show that behavior. Just like humans, if you've had it you want it. If you never knew about it then their is no need to want it. Simply said... Yes!
