Hi. Yes its normal for your pup to bark. We have an 8 week old golden labrador, and when he is playing with our 18 monthy old labrador he barks and growels in play. He also barks if he needs to go out for a wee or poo etc. Golden retrievers/labradors will bark in play and when someone is at the door etc, just like any other dog.
Our 18 month old lab sometimes barks at someone when we are walking down the street, its not because he is aggreesive or anything, he can sense people that are unsure of him etc. Its not a bad thing, its just 'dogs being dogs'.
I must say, when our 8 week old barks (Like he is right now as he wants to come in from the back garden ha) I think its so cute aww!!!
Good luck with your pup, I hope all is going well!!!x

It is natural for any dog to bark but a golden retriever does not bark as much as other dogs, but yes it is normal for them to bark too.

Whoever told you that has never owned a Golden. I have had 5 (2 currently) they are a laid back by nature but my Casey gets herself out of shape if I hug my mother and call her my mommy. She barks her fool head off because she is possessive (harmless) of my mother. One thing most Golden owners don't find out until it is too late is Golden pups are chewers. Invest in a large crate (big enough for them to move around and lay down in) for those times there will be no one home for hours on end. The chewing habit usually stops around 2. Other than that you will never own a better dog.

all dogs bark. whoever you're talking to stop talking to them. the key is not to give the dog what it wants when it's barking for somehthing. well unless the dog needs to go outside, then by all means do that. but if it's for a treat or toy or what you're eating. the answer is no. ignore the bark, if you give in you're telling your dog it's ok to demand things from you and a dog that respects the owner as leader will not do this. this behavior if allowed to continue can turn into other issues as the puppy grows. and again all dogs bark. it's one of many ways the communicate. a dog not barking would be like a dog that does not wag it's tail.

All dogs bark, it is just in their nature, no matter what breed they are. She might just be barking as a way of sooking when she doesn't get her way because she thinks if she barks you will give in and give her attention. If you give her attention when she barks it is just encouraging her to do it. When she barks firmly tell her no and don't show her any extra attention or give in to her, she will eventually learn that barking is not a way to get what she wants, hope his helped = )

yea, it's normal. They bark! Not a lot, but they bark. All dogs bark, unless there's something wrong with their voice. Goldens are extremely sweet and loving, and that's why you don't hear them bark much. but if they want to, they can bark, and howl, and whine, and growl!

Dogs bark and that is their natural thing to do. Of course, the puppy is going to bark; it is her way of communicating.

Of course it is normal. Goldens are great "talkers". My Golden Gurl has learned "Speak" for normal barks and "Whisper" for quiet barks.
And when she is greeting someone she knows, she "peeps" and makes all these funny little sounds.
It is perfectly normal.

Sure it's normal. Unless you have a Basenji, your dog is going to bark. Some dogs are barkier than others, but this is usually due to individual differences.
