Since he himself said they would (John 14:12)? The context is clearly referring to miracles.

Why don't verifiable miracles happen today? What better way is there to
convince people of the Christian message, and isn't that the commission given
to the church by Jesus?

Jesus didn't say that you had to be "good" to do miracles....he said you only needed as much faith as a mustard seed..........geez read your own book would ya?!?

They are. As you said the context was miracles, and what the Bible teaches is that the healing of the body is much inferior to the healing of the soul. Heal the body only last for time but salvation of the soul is eternal. The work of the church is to preach the gospel and bring eternal salvation to the lost. That is much much geater than Jesus healing of lame people, or giving sight to the blind, or even raising from the dead.

What jesus meant in that verse was greater in number not quality. Jesus raised the dead. There's no greater work than that, so he couldn't have been talking about greater works in quality. But when Christ died and the church began and down through the ages you have had billions of christians, many of them doing many good works, you could say that the church has done many times more work than Christ did Himself.

I don't know about that Christian stuff, but miracles happen everyday of the year and the world hides them.

The apostles were the object of his words at the time, and they did exactly what you describe.

I don't know where you've been looking, but I still see miracles being performed today.

we can only get inspiration from him
