I recently installed a new cd player in my 98 Cavalier. I have had a system for sometime now, 1000 watt amp with two MTX Thunder 8000 12' subs. The system & everything worked fine with the old cd player, but with this one, the amp kicks off if I barely even turn the volume up.. What could be the reason?

My main question, however, is, when I listen to it, even without the amp & system turned on, I hear a very loud thumping noise when I hit my breaks, which sounds like it is coming through the speakers, as weird as that sounds. This seems very odd to me, I have no idea what is going on unless it is something with my ground-wire for the cd player... Can someone help me out?

Definately go back and check the ground and power leeds and make shure they have nothing to do with the tail lights. Go into the settings for the new head unit and turn down the base. Good luck.

The amp is maximum probably undesirable. Or, in case your hitting bumps it might nicely be the connections. My chum had a project like this. She had a Hyundai Tiburon and the sound might want to reduce out, yet in consumer-friendly words even as it rained. nicely, i got here upon that water become leaking in accurate by way of her amp and shorting it out....

Sound like it could be a bad ground, take it back to who installed it and they should fix it fairly quick. If they dont know what they are doing take it to a pro.
