I look horrible whenever I leave it loose. But, I had a bad haircut recently, so I have to leave it loose. But, whenever I do so, my head looks like a chipped triangle because, it's almost always flat on the top but sticks out on the sides.

I don't want to back comb.

Is there anything I can do?

I have the same problem. I get a body perm on the crown only.

Well you could try straightening the sides with a hair straightener, or try one of Garniers Products for out of control hair , i found that Garnier's products really do work.
Try Garniers; Surf Wax....its like a cream which you can put in your hair to style it , but it keeps your hair soft instead of turning hard like mousse and Gel. Put some of that in and comb the sides of your hair down.

Good luck.

Not sure what texture your hair is but my daughter has this problem when she puts too much conditioner at the roots. Try putting conditioner on the ends only. It might even you out. Good luck!
