How old are you? The age limit to join is 17 to 34 (or whatever the maximum age limit is). If you're young (still in high school) wait to enlist until after this Commander in Chimp leaves office.

Work out run and drink about 8 cups of water daily. Be in shape! Do pullups situps and pushups. Run an average of 18 miles a week. Mon Wed and Fri at least 3 miles. Run Tues and Thurs at least 1 and a half with 1 minute and a half at regular pace and then sprint for 30 seconds. Do this throughout the whole run. But most of all prepare mentally. Think of being the best and nothing else! If you become a marine you will definately become one of the few and proud! Study a BST. Tell your recruiter to give you aone and make sure they teach you some basic drill. Attention, right face, left face and about face. Study you GENERAL ORDERS!!! you will read them almost every day. And just be ready for three months of the best training of your life. Stay motivated. And memorize everyone you plan om writing to address. Just hang out the recruiters office, Maybe there will be someone there on recruiters assistance just out of bootcamp. They can tell you exactly what to expect.
Semper Fi!!!!!!!!!!!! And those people who talk bad about the troops can kiss my hass!!!!!!!! Hippies!

You might get stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, depending on which side of the Mississippi you live. I would start running, doing sit ups, and push ups every day ~ because you'll have 20 mile humps with lots of gear you'll have to do which will require strength and stamina. I would also suggest you learn to deal with a lot less sleep, quick meals (burp and taste it later), and how to be meticulous about how you dress (correct folds, pressing, and blousing required).

Congrats on your decsion ~ especially at this difficult time in the world. It is people like you who provide the rest of us our freedom and keep us safe! Thanks for your dedication to our country!

do alot of push ups ,chin-ups and jogging as long as you can ,plus go to military.com for information on how to pass the ASVAB test . Be prepared to spend your 1st several days of training awake since you will be on the go from the moment you step off the bus. Remember it's all just a big head game and try not to injure yourself prior to enlisting while getting yourself in shape. And good luck ...sempre Fi

Why you would join now is your own business. But to prepare...lots of running, pushups, pullups, and more running. And remember, no matter how much you prepare for boot camp, it won't be enough. That's just part of the game.

Contact a recruiter. The one in our area has workouts with recruits 3 days a week. If they don't do that, ask for weight requirements and physical fitness requirements. God Bless you for wanting to join.

If you are going to Paris Island(which you will ) , You should go to your nearest swamp and let the insects eat you alive , while standing at attention for 30 minutes without moving . Sand fleas are brutal there. Good luck .

thats great you want to join the marines but why now? so many people are dying over there in Iraq. if i were you this would not be the time to join. if you have a way to be stationed elsewhere but there is no guarantee. maybe the navy would be your best bet...
