Well, you have an excellent printer, so as long as that's set up correctly, I'd agree with teef_au. Be sure that you are in the right mode with your camera. Press the QUAL button while you rotate the main command dial (on the rear of the camera) until "FINE" is set. Then press the QUAL button while you rotate the sub-command dial (on the front of the camera) until "L" is set.

If that doesn't help, have someone help check out your printer settings or come back here and ask. I don't know how the Canon printer works or I'd tell you now.

If you are using Photoshop or its cousins, be sure that you are saving the image in the highest resolution, also. It's an option during the "save" process.

I have a D70s and, as teef_au says, it produces wonderful 8x10 prints.

Is your camera set to Large and Fine? Look through the menu. I have a D50 and I print the images myself and they are superb.
