My boyfriend had a throat infection December 24th. He was prescribed Amoxicillin for it and it went away in a few days. Now today, we woke up and it turns out that not only does he have it again, but now I have it as well. We both woke up with swollen tonsils and white stuff on them. I already have Penecillin for my wisdom teeth. Is it alright if I take that for the thraot infection? Or should I wait to get some from my doctor on monday?

Did you mean Amoxicillin ? because you said ,
I already have Penicillin for my wisdom teeth

You both need to see a Dr. and have a rapid strep test done
and then see what antibiotic will work to kill the strep. And if you do not finish all of this new prescription, you will get to the point that when you really need an antibiotic for an infection nothing will work because your body will reject all the antibiotics. The you get into real trouble when your sick.

go see a doctor before you take antiB.
Doc will need to diagnose you first. But since you were already prescribed keep taking it until you see the doctor. In this case, penicillin cannot hurt you. Your BF was most likely given antiB to prevent possible future viral infections. In any case more info is needed. SO go see a doctor!

NO!!!!!! for two reasons the first is, Don't be stupid and take any random antiboitic or prescription medicine there is a reason you need a prescription. Second your boy friend probably didn't take his long enough and now has a resistant strain which he gave to you. So you both will need a stronger antibiotic than amoxicillin or pentacillin. Anitbotics are dangerous. They can select for resistant strains of bacteria that are harder to kill, you could be allergic, and they can disrupt your natural body flora.

Penicillin is degraded by digestion, so is usually given by injection. There can be rare but dangerous side effects from using it, so I'd wait and let a doctor deal with the matter.

When antibiotics are prescribed, you're supposed to finish all you have. So...if the penecillin was prescribed for you, you should still be taking it, until it's gone.

NEVER take other peoples Medication. See your Dr.Monday. It sounds so simple, but could turn into a catastrophe. I'm allergic to certain drugs. And in high school, I learned the hard way. I almost went comatose.
Hope you feel better soon!

No! you have to do a penicillin test again. You may have not been sensitve to it before but may develop hypersensitivity reaction to it this time.
