I've only been crushed in one debate. He had a lot of sources ready and I just had memory, and basically I was entrusted with trying to prove Christianity without using any Biblical sources or any quotes after 50AD. Then we started discussing science and I think I won that part, but with the first part I couldn't really say anything. Looking back at it now I made a lot of mistakes and could have slammed his arguments, but I was ill-prepared and because of that the debate did not go well overall.

>>Describe a religious debate you think you "lost"?<<

I tried to prove Catholicism false; he defended it. I ended up converting, so I "lost", but I really won something far more important...

I've never lost a religious debate only because I can only offer my opinion rather than what I 'know' to be a fact. I accept the idea that I cannot prove anything and I can't exactly prove that any source of information (books, religious or scientific) can prove anything about the existence/non-existence of any god. I may lean toward the idea that evolution cancels out the Adam and Eve story, but I still can't say I know that Adam and Eve never existed. I wasn't there in the beginning so what do I know. I enjoy a religious debate but it's not about winning or losing to me. I just like the challenge.

i've got in no way lost a non secular debate basically because of the fact i will basically furnish my opinion fairly than what I 'comprehend' to be a certainty. I settle for the thought i won't be able to tutor something and that i won't be able to precisely tutor that any source of recommendations (books, non secular or medical) can tutor something relating to the existence/non-existence of any god. i might desire to lean in the direction of the thought evolution cancels out the Adam and Eve tale, yet I nevertheless won't be able to say i comprehend that Adam and Eve in no way existed. I wasn't there interior the initiating so what do i comprehend. I savour a non secular debate besides the shown fact that it is not approximately winning or dropping to me. I only like the challenge.

Okay. This is the reason I answered your last question sarcastically: Why is winning the important thing here? Shouldn't growing spiritually and learning about the truth, and opening your mind to new things be the purpose of a spiritual quest?
You sound more like a lawyer trying to establish proof for your side than a man searching for wisdom and truth.

There can be no winner or loser in a religious;only anger and hatred in the aftermath of the debate.
