Try calling your local law enforcement, courthouse, or DMV and be persistent. Eventually you will find out what your local laws are and what the correct procedure is for that.

Contact your state Department of Motor Vehicles and ask them about abandoned cars on your property. I worked at a towing company and cars not claimed needed to be advertised in the local paper, certified letters had to be sent to the last known address of the owner and then state forms needed to be filed for transfer of ownership. They would be the ones to help you. Good Luck

Sounds as though you want to do it legally--You will need to take time off from work; after a visit to county hall to check for liens be prepared to fill out pages of paper work at DMV and have plenty of cash and prayers.
Just want an acceptable title to own the vehicle--go to a corner where drugs are sold, the transaction can be done during your lunch break with little, if any, paper work at a reasonable cost.

Then when DMV has down time---they will hunt you down and make life miserable.

Call police, have it towed and buy it at police auction--then sleep peaceful at night.

If it's abandoned ON YOUR PROPERTY, you might be able to apply for an abandoned title. This typically takes about 6 months -- at least it did for me in TX and CA.

If the vehicle is not on your property, i.e. parked in front of your house, you have no legal claim to it. Just call the police and have it towed.
